According to Fichajes, Barcelona will have to pay more than €50 million to secure the services of Robert Lewandowski during the summer transfer window. Bayern Munich will now demand €70 million from the Blaugrana for the Polish international.
With each passing day, the Robert Lewandowski transfer saga becomes more complicated. But one thing is certain: the 33-year-old will not leave Bayern Munich without completely severing ties with the Bavarian giants, though this is not entirely his fault.
The Bundesliga champions appear to be being unfair by erecting stumbling obstacles one after the other in order to deny Barcelona the opportunity to sign the Polish international.
Lewandowski, who has 344 goals and 72 assists in 374 appearances for Bayern Munich, is open to leaving the Allianz Arena, with Barcelona his favourite destination.
The Catalan giants see Lewandowski as a top target for the summer transfer season as they continue to rebuild their squad under the cautious eye of Xavi Hernandez.
While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was a valuable addition to Barcelona’s roster in the second half of the 2021/22 season, Xavi’s side lacks another prolific scorer.
Signing Lewandowski is so essential for Barcelona as they prepare for the 2022/23 season, when they will be vying for the league title, among other accolades.
However, Barcelona’s attempts to sign the 33-year-old have so far been futile, with Bayern Munich rejecting three proposals from the Blaugrana.
According to recent rumours, the Catalan giants are now willing to pay a set fee of €50 million to entice Robert Lewandowski away from the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich’s latest gambit, however, is unlikely to impress Barcelona or the Polish international, as they are now wanting €70 million to part ways with their star striker.
It is unknown how Barcelona will react to another price increase. However, given that Raphinha will join them from Leeds United in the summer transfer window, they are unlikely to yield to the new demand. The drama of Robert Lewandowski’s transfer continues to drag on!
Lewandowski’s family not happy with Bayern
The situation is believed to have shocked Lewandowski’s family and camp, who believe Bayern Munich is being ‘ungrateful’ after everything he has done to the club over the last eight years.
The striker’s camp is thought to be dissatisfied with how he is being treated, especially after seeing Bayern celebrate the signing of Sadio Mane.
Mane is 30 years old and departed Liverpool as he approached the end of his contract. Bayern signed him for €30 million, but continue to reject Barça proposals in excess of €40 million for Lewandowski, who is also in the final year of his contract and is three years older than Mane.
