Dortmund drop points in title race

Borussia Dortmund needed a win to close the gap to the Bundesliga leaders with four points but could not find a winner against the hard-working Koln team and remained in second place, six points behind the Bundesliga champions. Borussia Dortmund did not do enough to secure the winning goal and make the match on April 23, when Bayern and Borussia go head-to-head, and even more important game for Marco Roses’ side. After eight games in 28 days, followed by a first week without midweek clashes since the end of February, Borussia Dortmund will head to the Cathedral fully rested, hoping to approach the international break positively.

Koln equalised in the 36th minute after Andersson headed in from a Modest shot. The rest of the game was uneventful, except for a beautiful save by the goalkeeper, which did not allow Haalands to shoot. Dortmund took the lead early in the 8th minute after Wolf controlled Bellingham’s ball and went wide of the goalkeeper.

BVB players continued to lose the ball in accumulation and kept FC Koln in the game. With BVB playing, the exchange chances that came from winning the ball, partly too hard, somewhat just messy, a 1v1 situation by Haalands that heavily wiped out Schwabe resulted in no more chances.

Koln’s shot on target was well saved by Gregor Kobel, but he probably should have done better. Otherwise, the “wolves” played a quiet game, passed poorly and lost a lot of the ball. Erling Haaland averages 0.98 goals every 90 minutes and has played 62 starters in his career. Koln is currently seventh in the league table, but Cologne’s form has been erratic in recent weeks as they have only won two of their last five league games.

After being sidelined for months, Erling Haaland started in a match for Dortmund for the first time. Dortmund surely missed Haaland and his ability to score for them, as they were knocked out of the Europa League by the Rangers. Rumours are also heard that Haaland will leave the German side at the end of the season and will likely join Manchester City. Haaland has scored many goals for Dortmund, and on top of that, he has scored 56 Bundesliga goals for them. Haaland’s goal-scoring ability has attracted many top teams from all over Europe and why not, Manchester City playing with an absence of striker in front of goal are favourites to get him. Although Real Madrid were also looking to get Haaland but now are looking to get Mbappe from PSG.
