Bayern bounce back with a victory against Fruth

In the Bundesliga, it’s a rarity to see Bayern Munich losing games. But that once-in-a-blue-moon scenario unfolded before our eyes last weekend, as Bayern Munich was Stunned by a 4-2 loss against Bochum.

With Dortmund on their heels, it was vital that Bayern emerge victorious on matchday 23. That is exactly what they did as they defeated Furth by a scoreline of 4-1, a score that Sports betting Canada predicted the week before.

A late first-half goal by Furth was equalized by Robert Lewandowski in the first minute of the second half.

The Polish striker got his name written again on the score sheet in the 81st minute of the game but before that Sebastian Griesbeck of Fruth, unfortunately, put the ball in his own net at the hour mark.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting added the finishing touches in stoppage time, making the scoreline read – Bayern 4 – 1 Furth.

It was an emphatic display by Bayern Munich as they lead the Bundesliga table (like they always do) by 6 points.

Just behind them are their infinite rivals Dortmund who are always sniffing a chance of a Bayern slip up – matchday 23 didn’t give them that chance!

So, let’s discuss a few pointers that stood out from the Bayern-Fruth game as it unfolded on Sunday at the Allianz Arena.

Closer than you think

After being stunned by a 4-2 loss to Bochum the previous week, Bayern was desperate not to slip up against promoted sides again, especially with basement boys Furth in town.

Although 39 points separated them, since the start of this year Bayern secured 9 points while Furth secured 8.

Furth in the first half gave Bayern some real scares and they did take the lead late in the half thanks to in-form Branimir Hrgota finding the net with a free-kick that deflected in off Marcel Sabitzer.

The first half ended with Furth taking a 1-0.

The draw against Salzburg in the RO16 tie of Champions League must have still been fresh in the minds of Bayern fans, and they must have been nervous heading into the second half.

The scoreline might not show it, but Greuther Furth gave Bayern Munich a serious scare.

But with some timely substitutions from Nagelsmann and a tweak in the tactics, eventually took Furth down.

The game was a lot closer than the scorelines tell you, but a Bayern-like 2nd half performance turned the game around completely.

Lewandowski gets service, he gets goals

Robert Lewandowski is a simple man. If he gets the service, he will score the goals. It is that simple.

In times of crisis, Lewandowski has frequently proven to be Bayern’s savior. He is a fantastic striker, arguably one of the finest in the world right now.

He has just been in an incredible form over the previous couple of seasons, and he just can’t stop scoring goals!

Lewandowski proved just that, yet again against Furth.

His straightforward finish from close range 30 seconds after the restart meant Bayern was back in business. It was just the lift the hosts needed, and after that Bayern went on to win 4-1 with Lewandowski grabbing another goal.

Not only is Lewandowski the leading marksman in the division this season, but he now also leads the way for this year with nine goals in six games.
