Bayern Munich’s latest signing, Leroy Sané, trained with his new teammates for the first time on Monday.
The 24-year-old arrived to the Allianz Arena from Manchester City in a €45 million deal last week. He had spent virtually all of the 2019-20 campaign on the sidelines with a torn ACL picked up in the opening 13 minutes of the English FA Community Shield back in August.
Sané returned following the restart but played just 11 minutes in a 5-0 thrashing of Burnley as reports suggested manager Pep Guardiola had fallen out with the German international. The 2019-20 Bundesliga season is now over so the pacey winger will not be able to make his FCB debut until next season. For German football fans looking for some entertainment between now and the next action, there are plenty more sports taking place this summer, and maybe some cricket odds will take your fancy?
The record German champions have this afternoon published footage of Leroy Sané in training with the first team.
Sané will not be able to play in the Champions League when it resumes in August. Bayern Munich are scheduled to face Chelsea in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie, with Hansi Flick’s side having a 3-0 lead from the first leg at Stamford Bridge back in March.
The latest signing told the club’s official website:
“It was very good to be back on the pitch and to complete my first training session. I’m overjoyed to be here.”
Leroy Sané came through the youth ranks at Schalke 04 in 2014, playing just one full season with the club before a big money move to English Premier League giants Manchester City in 2016. He won the title twice as well as the 2019 FA Cup.
