The 2019-20 Bundesliga restarts in under an hour’s time with the most-anticipated game of the weekend being the Revierderby between rivals Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 at Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund are four points behind leaders Bayern Munich whilst Schalke took just four points from their last seven games prior to the COVID-19 disruption.
There have been no reports of players being absent with the virus for today’s game. The two confirmed lineups are as follows:
Roman Burki; Matts Hummels, Manuel Akanji, Lukaszk Piszczek; Achraf Hakimi, Thomas Delaney, Mahmoud Dahoud, Giovanni Reyna, Julian Brandt; Erling Haaland
It looks as though Lucien Favre is fielding a 3-4-3 today with Lukasz Piszczek slotting in the back three and Achraf Hakimi and Raphael Guerreio playing wingback roles. Thomas Delaney has had time to recover from his long-term absence but Jadon Sancho is not in the starting lineup. Instead, 17-year-old Giovanni Reyna is handed his first Bundesliga start, supporting fellow teenager Erling Haaland in an attacking trio with Julian Brandt.
Markus Schubert; Jean-Clair Todibo, Matija Nastasic, Salif Sane; Jonjoe Kenny, Weston McKennie, Suat Serdar, Bastian Oczipka; Daniel Caligiuri, Benito Raman, Amine Harit
David Wagner’s side were on dire form before the disruption and the head coach will be hoping his side are prepared to match up to their biggest rivals on Saturday afternoon. These two sides played out a 0-0 draw in Gelsenkirchen back in October.
The visitors could be playing a 3-4-3 without the ball and a 5-4-1 when in possession today. Benito Raman will lead the line up front whilst Jean-Clair Todibo, Matija Nastasic and Salif Sane are the back trio. English youngster Jonjoe Kenny will look to get forward from the right-hand side of defence.
