Diallo leaves Dortmund for PSG

French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the signing of defender Abdou Diallo.

The 23-year-old has moved to the Parc des Princes with immediate effect. Neither club has released details over the transfer.

BVB sporting director Michael Zorc is confident that last season’s Bundesliga runners-up remain strong in defence, telling the club’s official website:

“We’re well-stocked in defence, both in terms of the number of players and their quality. Abdou really wanted to accept the offer from his homeland, and for us it’s a highly lucrative one. We’d like to thank Abdou for his efforts at Borussia Dortmund and wish him all the best in terms of health and success at his new club.”

Abdou Diallo made 28 Bundesliga appearances (27 starts) last season but didn’t make a single appearance in the Champions League for Thomas Tuchel’s side. The French defender split his time between centre-back and left-back.

Borussia Dortmund re-signed centre-back Mats Hummels from Bayern Munich and Nico Schulz from 1899 Hoffenheim earlier this summer,

Manuel Akanji, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Omer Toprak as options at centre-back. Achraf Hakimi is midway thtough his two-year loan deal from Real Madrid, and Raphael Guerreiro is another option at left-back.

Diallo was formerly a regular for the France Under-21s but has yet to make his senior national team debut.
