Drmic leaves Gladbach for Norwich

Strike Josip Drmic has left Borussia Monchengladbach to join newly-promoted English Premier League side Norwich City on a free transfer.

The Swiss international’s contract was due to expire at the end of the month and will sign a three-year deal in England.

Drmic made 43 Bundesliga appearances in four years at Borussia Park, scoring seven goals. He also played six games in the UEFA Europa League for die Fohlen.

The 26-year-old told the club’s official website that he enjoyed his time at Gladbach:

“Even though I haven’t played a huge amount, I always felt good here. I will always look back with fond memories of my time here. Now I’m looking forward to the new challenge in the Premier League.”

Josip Drmic’s time at Borussia Monchengladbach was hindered by injuries following his arrival from fellow Bundesliga outfit Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2015. He originally came through the youth ranks at FC Zurich, making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2010. He first moved to Germany with FC Nurnberg where he said for the 2013-14 campaign, before signing for Die Werkself after scoring 17 goals in 33 games in his debut Bundesliga season.

He has 10 goals in 32 caps for the Switzerland national team.
