Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed Moussa Diaby from French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The 19-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the BayArena until 30 June 2024.
Diaby made 25 appearances (10 starts) last season, scoring two goals and adding six assists for Thomas Tuchel’s side. He made a further six appearances in the French Cup where he scored once.
The teenager is a France Under-20 international and was named in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship Team of the Tournament last summer.
Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes was excited by the club’s second signing so far this summer:
“Moussa Diaby is an extremely fast, technically strong striker whose qualities suit our game down to the ground. Moussa is already very advanced at the age of 19. He played 34 games last season, an impressive number for a top European club like PSG. He’s one of the really big French talents who will find ideal conditions here with us in Leverkusen to develop into an absolutely top player.”
Moussa Diaby came through the youth ranks at PSG, making his first team debut last season after a short loan spell in Serie A with Crotone for the 2017-18 season.
The French youth international will add pace down the left wing for the Bundesliga side, who will participate in the Champions League qualifying round at the start of the new season after finishing fourth last campaign.
Diaby has been handed the number 19 shirt for Bayer Leverkusen. He likes to run with the ball and is good at creating chances for teammates but isn’t the best of crossers.
