RB Leipzig have agreed to sign attacking midfielder Hannes Wolf from Red Bull Salzburg.
The 19-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the Red Bull Arena until 30 June 2024. Wolf’s transfer won’t go through until 1 July 2019. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose details of the transfer.
Wolf came through the youth ranks at Red Bull Salzburg where he won the UEFA Youth League Under-19s in 2016-17. He has six caps for the Austrian Under-21s.
The teenager has scored five goals and recorded nine assists in 23 games for the reigning Austrian Bundesliga champions this season.
RB Leipzig sporting director and coach Ralf Rangnick told the club’s official website:
“Hannes has caught our attention due to his prominent development in recent years. This is reflected not only in him winning the UEFA Youth League with the Red Bull Salzburg youth team, but also making numerous appearances both in Austrian and on the European stage – despite his very young age.
“These strengths make him a versatile attacking midfielder, and we’re pleased that he’s decided to take the next step in his career from the start of July.”
Hannes Wolf is the first player RB Leipzig have agreed to sign in 2019 as the club look to be able to offer the highly-rated youngster UEFA Champions League football next season when Julian Nagelsmann replaces Ralf Rangnick.
