Borussia Dortmund have announced the permanent signing of striker Paco Alcacer from FC Barcelona.
The 25-year-old has signed a deal at Signal Iduna Park until 30 June 2023. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the details of the transfer.
Alcacer had initially been on loan from the reigning Spanish La Liga champions, scoring an impressive nine goals in only 303 minutes in all competitions.
Sporting director Michael Zorc announced the signing on the club’s official website:
“We’ve informed Barcelona today that we will exercise the purchase option. Paco is wholeheartedly committed to us, has integrated quickly and has become a core component of our squad.
“He’s a real goalscorer who has great footballing ability and has already decided some important games for us. We’re looking forward to lots more goals and assists from Paco in the coming years.”
Paco Alcacer responded with:
“I’m very happy to be in Dortmund, at BVB and part of this wonderful team. Borussia Dortmund was and remains totally the right decision for me. I’ll give it everything to repay the trust placed in me with performances and goals!”
The Spanish international was a hot prospect at Valencia before signing for Barcelona in 2016. However, he failed to hit the heights at Camp Nou and was sent out on loan to the Bundesliga giants this season.
Alcacer is Lucien Favre’s main striker in his squad which consists of a number of talented forwards and wingers to create opportunities for the hitman.
