Hertha BSC have signed forward Salomon Kalou from French Ligue 1 side Lille.
The Ivory Coast international is much-travelled and brings a wealth of experience to the German capital having played for the likes of Feyenoord, Lyon, and Chelsea before Lille.
Salomon Kalou will give Jos Luhukay’s side some pace down the wings and was a regular goalscorer for both Feyenoord and Lille at points during his career.
Hertha BSC have made an entertaining start to the season from a neutrals perspective, but with only one point from their opening two games, much improvement is needed.
The season started with a 2-2 draw at home to Werder Bremen before losing 4-2 at Bayer 04 Leverkusen in matchday 2.
Hertha have been very busy during the summer transfer window as it heads into its final hours – signing a number of players, including the well-known Per Ciljan Skjelbred, John Heitinga, Jens Hegeler, Valentin Stocker and Julian Schieber.
Salomon Kalou finds a lot of competition if he is to become a regular in the Bundesliga, but a player with a UEFA Champions League and Premier League winners’ medal under his belt says he is more than capable of competing for that place.
