VfB Stuttgart have completed the loan signing of striker Federico Macheda from English Premier League side Manchester United until the end of the season.
The Italian under 21 has had limited opportunities in England but gained first team experience with Sampdoria in Serie A two years ago. Macheda played in two Champions League games this season for the Red Devils but has not appeared in the Premier League since February 2012 during a short loan spell with Queens Park Rangers.
Stuttgart sporting director Fredi Bobi was pleased to have found a striker:
“We wanted to sign a striker and we’re pleased to have found one now in Federico Macheda from Manchester United. Federico is young and hungry for success, so he therefore fits in very well here in Stuttgart. He comes from a top European club and has already proven himself there. We now want to integrate him into the team as quickly as possible.”
Federico Macheda became an instant hit at Old Trafford with a winning goal on his debut that many fans believe was the catalyst helping Manchester United win the Premier League title during the 2008/09 season. The Italian only played a further 18 Premier League games for England’s biggest club, and 3 on loan at Queens Park Rangers. Scoring 4 goals combined.
