Afellay out for 2 months

FC Schalke 04 have been handed bad news at their winter training camp in Doha, Qatar as Ibrahim Afellay has been ruled out for two months, meaning he will miss the restart of the season.

The Dutch international, on loan from FC Barcelona suffered a muscle strain in his right thigh which they club expect to keep him out of action for the next two months at least. A similar injury earlier this season kept Afellay out for several weeks.

New head coach Jens Keller will now be without Ibrahim Afellay, as well as Jermaine Jones and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar when they restart the Bundesliga season against Hannover 96 on Friday 18 January.
