Hoffenheim hire Kurz

1899 Hoffenheim have announced the hiring of Marco Kurz as their head coach from 1 January 2013.

The former 1. FC Kaiserslautern head coach will take over from interim head coach Frank Kramer who was put in charge of the club following the dismissal of Markus Babbel on 3 December.

Marco Kurz began his coaching career with SC Pfullendorf before moving onto TSV 1860 Munich. He then guided 1. FC Kaiserslautern into the Bundesliga in 2010.

In his playing days, Kurz was a defender who made 300 Bundesliga appearances for VfB Stuttgart, 1. FC Nürnberg, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Schalke 04 and 1860 Munich. He lifted the league title with Dortmund in 1995 and the UEFA Cup with Schalke in 1997.
